    Selecting a disposable mask depends on the type of particles to filter and the work environment. A dust mask, for example, does not protect against organic vapors, and disposable masks are not suitable for environments with less than 19% oxygen. Proper fit is crucial for effective protection, which is why we offer a seal test service. When done correctly, a respirator can filter concentrations up to 10 times the limit set by CNESST or other regulatory agencies. Each contaminant has an exposure limit that should never be exceeded.

    Respirator designations indicate resistance to oily particles:

    • N: not resistant
    • R: resistant (up to 8 hours)
    • P: resistant for the mask’s lifespan

    The numbers 95 or 100 represent filtration efficiency at 0.3 microns for example, an N95 captures 95% of airborne particles and does not resist oily substances. Some models have exhalation valves to reduce fogging when worn with safety glasses. Others, like the R9211, are foldable for easy storage between uses.

  • Allegro low pressure Air-Supplied Respirators

    This type of respiratory protection is recommended for work that will release solid and liquid particles into the air or work in environments where you find contaminants and/or biological particles in the air. Low-pressure air supply systems are required when workers are in the presence of a contaminant that cannot be filtered by cartridges or filters. Low pressure pumps are designed to transfer respirable air from an uncontaminated area to a worker who requires supplied air respirators. The term frequently used in the field of respiratory protection is SAR for “Supplied Air Respirator.”
     

    These kits offer a NIOSH-approved protection factor of 1000 when you fully use all components designated by the manufacturer Allegro. You must check the level of respiratory risk associated with its use. The manufacturer has designed its products for environments with contaminant concentrations that do not exceed the limit that results in the immediate death of the worker. This must be taken into account if the pump stops working. In addition, be sure to choose the location of your air source wisely because the pumps are designed to transfer breathing air from an uncontaminated area to a worker. Equipment in this category is not recommended for sandblasting. Do not use these respiratory protection systems in areas where there is a risk of oxygen deficiency. 

    In our choice of products we have selected three types of facial parts, the half-mask respirators, the full face or the hood. As for the choice of the hood, it is necessary if your workers are not finely shaved or beard or mustache. To ensure the required airflow, three models of pumps are available. The equipment included in this category operates at low pressure, from 1 to 45 psi. The final choice of the pump depends on the choice of the facial part and the number of workers. To help you, the manufacturer Allegro Industries has created sets that take into account the limits of the pumps.

    3M Versaflo TR-300 for respiratory protection equipment are of a new generation powered air purifying respirators. This type of equipment offers a perfect balance between comfort and protection. Indeed, a Versaflo TR-300 provides a great mobility to the workers, adjust to most face shapes and may be adapted to different work environments.  

    First, Versaflo’s TR-300 unit blows filtered air into the facepiece without the worker having to make any effort to breath. Depending on the facepiece chosen, this type of equipment may offer a protection from 25 times to a 1000 times the permissible exposure limit set by the CNESST or any other government regulation applicable.

    Many facepiece are available thus, the configuration of your equipment will depend on the environment in which you work whether it be in an industrial environment where hard hats are required or in a pharmaceutical or medical environment which for example may require a chemical spill protection.

    3M indeed offers a wide selection of hard hats facepiece which all belong to the H-series. If needed, 3M also offers S-series head covers and hoods; some disposable and some with a reusable suspension.
