Fiberlock Technologies® IAQ 6000™ mould resistant coating relying on titanium dioxide and a powerful alcohol (2,2,4-Trimethyl-1,3-Pentenediol Monoisobutyrate) as active ingredients to prevent mould growth. Sold in 5 gal US (18.9 L) containers.

Fiberlock Technologies® manufacturer’s code: IAQ 6000

This product meets ASTM G-21 resistance of synthetic polymeric materials to fungi requirements and ASTM D-3273 growth of mold on the surface of interior coatings in an environmental chamber requirements.

Encapsulating products are a safe and efficient method to kill and prevent mold, since they dry to form an invisible antimicrobial shield that physically crushes mold spores to prevent new growths. This type of product is the third and final step to mold remediation and it will be efficient only if the surface sprayed has been cleaned up and sterilized. IAQ 6000™ mold control is ideal for restoration professionals, be they specialized in mold remediation or disaster recovery clean-up.

More than an encapsulating product, the IAQ 6000™ mold resistant coating closely resembles paint which protects surfaces, but in a durable, flexible and permeable way.

The IAQ 6000™ mold resistant coating may be used on a plethora of surfaces: wood, plaster, concrete, masonry block, galvanized steel and other primed metals.

Dilution:
No dilution is required, the IAQ 6000™ has been designed as a ready-made product. Shake well before use.

Coverage:
The approximate coverage rate on smooth surfaces ranges between 250 ft2 to 400 ft2/gal US depending on the amount applied and between 150 ft2 to 300 ft2/gal US on porous surfaces, depending of course on the amount applied.

Procedures:
The surfaces to be coated must be clean and free from dirt, wax, grease, glue and silicone. Given that IAQ 6000™ is the final step to mold remediation, the surface must have undergone a serious clean-up and a sterilization process. Make sure the surface to be treated is smooth; if need be, sand the surface to make it smooth before coating it.

This product is water-based; ferrous metal should thus be primed with a rust-inhibiting primer before the application of IAQ 6000™.

The manufacturer recommends the use of a nylon or polyester paint brush, a synthetic fibre 3/8nap paint roll or an airless spray system to apply the IAQ 6000™.

Please note that a second layer of coating may be required for a full protection.

Drying time:
Once applied, the product should be set to touch after one (1) hour at a temperature of 70 °F (21 °C) and a relative humidity of 50%. For a dry through, this product requires 4 hours in the same conditions.

Airless spray system specifications:
One should use an airless spray system equipped with reversible 0.019” to 0.021” spray tips (recommended for optimum application). Considering that this product is water-based, one should use corrosion resistant pumps and fittings unlike carbon steel spray equipment.

Safety equipment:
On top of basic protective gear, it is recommended to handle IAQ 6000™ with respiratory protection gear such as a half facepiece respirator (R7502) equipped with cardidges for protection from organic vapours (R6001) and R95 prefiltres (R5P71) as well as safety eyewear (YA11510).

Limitations:
The manufacturer strongly discouraged the application of this product on surfaces colder than 50 °F (10 °C) nor in conditions such as exceeding relative humidity which will prevent the drying of the product. This product has been designed to prevent the growth of mould and offers no protection from bacterias, viruses, germs and other organisms which may be hazardous the man’s health. This product has also been designed for inside use only. The manufacturer cautioned not to mix the IAQ 6000™ with other products, solvents or oil-based toners.

WARNING: Manufacturers of chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC) pipe believe that it can be sensitive to or incompatible with chemicals found in many commonly used household and industrial cleaning products, coatings, adhesives and other compounds, and that those chemicals can cause stress cracks or pipe failure.

Storage:
Keep out of the reach of children at a room temperature ranging between 40 °F (4 °C) and 90 °F (32 °C). Keep in the original sealed container. If the product is still sealed, the manufacturer limits its shelf life to 36 months.
