This single-faced combo unit has a slim profile that fits most situations. During regular operation, the “Sortie” sign stays permanently lit to indicate an emergency exit. In case of power outage, the two spotlights automatically turn on to illuminate the evacuation path, and the "Sortie" sign stays lit. LED bulbs save energy and last much longer than conventional incandescent bulbs.

The two PAR18 orientable LED spotlights only draw 2W each and emit a clear, crisp white light. The LED backlit “Sortie” sign also draws 2W. The unit requires continuous input of 120V or 347V AC. Input voltage can be selected by the user during installation.

During power outages, the included sealed lead acid battery unit outputs 6V 36W for 30 minutes as required by code. The battery lasts for up to 4 hours but the supplied power decreases with time. This unit may also be used to power other spotlights or emergency exit lights. The circuit board includes protections against brownout and short circuits.

The unit may be mounted in three ways: wall-mounted, end-mounted (perpendicular to a wall) or ceiling-mounted.

The unit is housed in a 20 gauge steel casing with white powder coat finish. The “Sortie” faceplate includes arrow cut-outs that may be knocked out as needed to indicate the direction of evacuation. The casing includes universal spider knockout holes and keyhole slots, for unit mounting and wiring. A steel universal spider plate is also included for ceiling and end mounting.

The spotlights are housed in high-impact thermoplastic heads. A push button on the side of the unit allows easy maintenance testing. Pilot LED lights on the side of the unit indicate when the unit is connected to AC and when the battery is charging.
