Survivair complete face-mounted powered air purifying respirator assembly (PAPR). This piece of equipment gets its NIOSH homologation when assembled with the other components recognised by the manufacturer as part of a complete system. It is recommended for respiratory protection during abatement or other types of decontamination work. Compatible with Honeywell  RN108044 filters. The reference number corresponds the large size. Each case contains one complete Powerflow unit.

Survivair is a powered air purifying respirator which offers a perfect balance between protection and comfort. It combines components which protect not only one’s respiratory tract but also one’s eyes and face. The kit includes among others, a high nominal capacity battery which provides up to 8 hours of run time and many accessories.

Included in the kit:
- 1 Full facepiece
- 1 Powered air purifying respirator unit
- 1 Intrinsically safe high capacity Nickel-Cadmium battery
- 1 Airflow indicator
- 1 High efficiency (HE)

Honeywell manufacturer’s code: PR501

Surviviar powered air purifying respirator unit features
PAPR, powered air purifying respirator are systems made to blow filtered air into the respiratory equipment, which provides air automatically rather than mechanically such as regular respirators. Honeywell differs from other PAPRs by its lightness, its ergonomic and its efficiency regarding asbestos exposure. This type of equipment offers a protection up to 1000 times the permissible exposure limit set by the CNESST or any other government regulation applicable.

Full facepiece features
Survivair PR501 series full facepieces are NIOSH approved. Please note that only one high efficiency (HE) filter approved for Survivair equipment is supplied with each kit. Spare filters are available in the menu below. This code corresponds to the medium size.

Honeywell PR501 full facepiece are made of thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) except the faceseal which is made of silicone.  The head harness is equipped with four adjustable head straps. None of the components contain natural rubber latex. Full facepiece respirators are particularly useful when one must protect himself from particles that may cause skin and eye irritation. The lens made of polycarbonate which is approved for impacts on this full facepiece may be use as safety eyewear.

Other sizes are available in the menu below this page.

Use for:
This type of respiratory protection is recommended for work that will loosen solid particles in the air including radionuclides, radon daughters and asbestos. The high efficiency filters which comes with the kit protect one from most airborne particles with an 99,97% efficiency.

Do not use for:
systems do not offer a protection against vapours and gases. It is strongly discouraged to wear a respirator for application with sandblasting. It is also highly advised to stay away from environment that exceed 1000 times the permissible exposure limit set by the CNESST or any other government regulation applicable. One should never use a respirator in an oxygen deprived environment (an atmosphere with less than 19,5 % oxygen).

Maintenance and service life:
One should respect established manufacturer’s recommendations to ensure the safe and optimal performance of the equipment. Honeywell recommends an inspection of the respiratory equipment before each use; to wash the respirator after each use; and to store the respirator back to its packaging.

Decontamination is required before the equipment cleanup. The worker must indeed wear his respiratory protection system in the safety shower area. It is recommended to rotate the filter so that the filter’s air intake is pointing down. The equipment should be removed after shower, but the engine should be left running for fifteen minutes. For best results, leave the filter on the powered unit but remove the mask from the engine.

When cleaning, one should never use any type of solvents nor alcohol since they can weaken some components which, in turns, can affect the efficiency of the equipment. It is recommended to clean the full facepiece up with soapy water, then rinse and then soak it in a solution of water and bleach (1mL bleach/1L water) for two minutes. Once dry, the equipment should be packed away from the sun’s rays and extreme temperatures.  The filter should also be kept in a different packaging to avoid any possible contamination. Please note that the powered unit, the battery and the filter must never be immersed in water. The battery can withstand up to 500 cycles of charge.
