Peculiarities of:
Reflective stripes and visibility:
This fluorescent orange waterproof jacket features 50 mm (2 in.) wide Star Tech® retroreflective silver stripes. It also features two vertical stripes at the front, two crossed X stripes at the back, a horizontal stripe at the waist and a stripe around the elbows.
Fluorescent orange is highly visible during the day and in conditions with lots of artificial light. In most situations, it also offers high contrast with the background. Fluorescent orange is, however, less visible at night and in conditions of low natural or artificial light, such as dawn or dusk.
Silver retroreflective strips are highly visible in natural or artificial low-light conditions, as they reflect light back towards the source of the beam (flashlight, car headlights, etc.). They therefore offer the greatest safety at dawn, dusk and at night. However, they do not increase visibility during the day.
Design:
The coat has 2 flap pockets, a hem with drawcord and drawstring, and closes with a full-length, heavy-duty toothed zipper. The coat is easy to wear over warm clothing, while still allowing good air circulation thanks to its loose fit. The hood folds into the collar. A lightweight mesh lining partially covers the upper back for added comfort and breathability.
The polyurethane-lined polyester coat inside is made from 150-denier yarns. In simpler terms, this lightweight coat has a 150 denier Oxford weave expressing the 9,000 m weight of the yarn used, so 150 denier equals 150 g offering very good resistance to tears and abrasion. Oxford weave is obtained by crossing a weft thread (horizontal thread) and a warp thread (vertical thread) to create a checkered appearance.
The dungarees feature elastic straps, metal buckles and snap hems for a snug fit.
Waterproofing:
Polyurethane-coated waterproof garments are generally worn by workers exposed to low risks of chemical splashes. Polyurethane is a light, porous material. It can be used to make lightweight, breathable garments. However, in the event of heavy rain and strong winds, polyurethane becomes saturated with water and loses its impermeability. Once waterlogged, polyurethane allows water to penetrate the coat under the slightest pressure, such as bending over or leaning against something.
Application:
It is recommended for workers who are around moving vehicles: school crossing guards, drivers, transport employees, etc.
Restriction:
This waterproof set is not flame-resistant.
Maintenance and service life:
This waterproof set can be machine-washed on the gentle cycle in cold or lukewarm water with a mild detergent. Do not use bleach or fabric softener. It should also be air-dried, away from direct sunlight. This coat should never be tumble-dried, ironed or dry-cleaned.
