About its classification:
CGSB 155.20-2000 is a Canadian standard that specifies minimum performance requirements for workwear worn to protect against unexpected exposure to flash fires caused by hydrocarbons. This standard establishes performance requirements and test methods for the evaluation of components used in the construction of workwear. Workwear complying with this standard is intended to provide a degree of protection to the wearer and reduce the severity of injury in the event of flash fires caused by hydrocarbons.
The ANSI/ISEA 107-20 standard classifies 3 types P and R: Type P concerns safety clothing for public safety, such as police, fire or ambulance. Type R applies to safety apparel for on-road use, such as construction, transportation or maintenance workers.
CSA Z96-22 class 2 level 2: High-visibility safety clothing for workers who perform their duties in close proximity to road traffic and whose maximum speed is 80 km/h. Low to moderate risk.
Fluorescent yellow (lime green) is highly visible during the day and in conditions with little natural light, such as dawn and dusk. In most situations, it also offers high contrast with the background. Being paler than orange, fluorescent yellow is more visible at night, though not as visible in the dark as reflective stripes.
Silver-gray retroreflective strips are highly visible in natural or artificial low-light conditions, as they reflect light back towards the source of the light beam (flashlight, car headlights, etc.). They therefore offer the greatest safety at dawn, dusk and during the night. However, they do not increase visibility during the day. Construction workers, forestry workers, in short, anyone who has to work outside even when it’s raining.
Peculiarities of:
- It protects against the risk of fire, burns and heat, thanks to its flame-retardant materials.
- It keeps you dry and warm, thanks to a waterproof coating that resists rain, snow and liquid splashes.
- It ensures optimum visibility, thanks to its bright color and reflective stripes that make it easy for others to see.
Water-resistance:
Polyurethane-lined waterproof safety wear is usually worn by workers who may be exposed to remote risks of chemical splashes. PU is lightweight and porous; it’s thus ideal to manufacture light and breathable workwear. Yet, during heavy rains and windstorms, PU tends to get waterlogged and lose all its water-resistant property. Once overloaded, polyurethane lets water leach into the raincoat under any pressure, e.g. by leaning on something or bending over.
Application:
Construction workers, forestry workers, in short, anyone who has to work outside even when it’s raining.
Restriction:
There are a few restrictions that must be respected to use this coat safely and optimally:
- It must be worn with high-visibility flame-retardant pants with retroreflective leg bands to achieve CSA Z96-22 class 3 and ANSI/ISEA 107-22 class 3.
- Store in a dry place, out of direct sunlight, to prevent the fabric from fading or deteriorating.
- Replace it if it shows signs of wear, tears, punctures or burns, or if the retroreflective strips lose their effectiveness.
By observing these restrictions, you'll be able to enjoy the benefits of the coat and work safely.
Maintenance and service life:
Hand wash with cold water and mild detergent, without using bleach, fabric softener or dryer. Wash inside out to reduce abrasion and streaking.
