Peakworks Roofer Fall Protection Kit. The kit includes a safety harness (FPH1000A), a 2-foot lanyard (FPACC), a 3-strand 5/8-inch-diameter rope (FPAC-50*), a temporary anchor (FPA827) and a storage bucket. For workers weighing 99 lb to 253 lb (44.91 kg to 114.76 kg), including clothing, tools and equipment.

Peakworks manufacturer code: V8257045, model: RK4-50. Complies with CSA Z259.10-06, CSA Z259.11-05 and CSA Z259.2.5 standards.

Characteristics of the FPH1000A harness

Peakworks brands, class A, economy safety harness with a back loop. This harness has 3 adjustment points; Two on the legs and 1 on the chest. In addition, it is designed with a sub-pelvic support strap. The chest and thigh straps are joined by intertwined buckles. This harness is available in one size.

Peakworks product code: V8001000 or model FBH-10002A. Complies with CSA Z259.10-06 and AINSI Z359.11

Slider Features FPACC

The Peakworks FPACC slider has a 2 ft (0.6 m) strap, energy absorber and a standard carabiner with a ¾" (19 mm) opening. It is a device that allows the arrest of a fall thanks to its cam mechanism that firmly crushes the cable on which it is attached. The worker must use a 5/8" (16 mm) diameter cable approved for the fall arrester. In addition, this model is equipped with a panic device that has the particularity of having a spring-loaded cam lever that allows the cam to hook onto the safety rope even if the user grabs the cam lever (forcing it open) in case of a fall. This prevents the "tight grip falls" associated with standard safety slides. It is most frequently used in the vertical position.

Peakworks product code: V8103162 or model SA-3206-2. Complies with CSA Z259.11-05 and CSA Z259.2.5-17.

Type E4 rope grab capable of supporting a worker weighing 99 lb to 253 lb (44.91 kg to 114.76 kg), including clothing, tools and equipment. The energy absorber is designed to reduce the impact force of the fall below 900 lb (4 kN). During a fall, the energy absorber deploys over a distance of 6 ft. (1.8 m) to reduce the force experienced by the worker upon stopping. Once deployed, the lanyard and harness must be replaced. Think of it as a close call, so you can go home for dinner.

According to the manufacturer, the FPACC slider is designed to withstand static forces of 5000 lb (22 KN), which complies with CSA Z259.11-05. This rope grab is designed to be used by a single worker and can support a worker weighing 253 lb (115 kg), including clothing, tools and equipment. The user must always orient the rope grab so that the arrow points in the direction of the anchor (i.e. upward).

Characteristics of the FPAC-50

* FPAC-50 rope in the kit corresponds to the new product. The corresponding characteristics have been modified in the text below.

Peakworks vertical lifeline made of 5/8" (16 mm) diameter copolymer fibre rope and 50 feet long. Fitted with a splice at the rear end and a standard carabiner on the other end.

The other end has a splice to prevent the runner from detaching from the lifeline. This lifeline has a minimum breaking strength of 22.2 kN (5000 lb). The carabiners (hooks) are made of steel and are capable of withstanding a force of 3600 lb (16 kN) without deforming.

Inspection:

Workers are responsible for performing a routine inspection before each use. During this routine inspection, they should observe any signs of deterioration, wear, malfunction or breakage. All equipment must be replaced at the first sign of failure. In addition, all components should be inspected by a qualified person other than the worker. The required frequency of these inspections varies by manufacturers. Some require inspections every 90 days, other every 180 days or even annually.

Keep in mind that the more difficult the work and environmental conditions, the more often your equipment will need to be inspected. The recommended life span of a lanyard and harness is 5 years. Some manufacturers are silent on the subject, but in practice a lanyard and harness that is used regularly and neglected in its storage or maintenance will not have a long life. On average, their life span will not exceed 5 years.

Sylprotec offers a lanyard and safety harness inspection service. You can find out more by visiting the Service tab on our website. Any equipment that is subjected to a fall or impact should be taken out of service.

Maintenance:

When it comes to cleaning, use mild soap and warm water (37°C). Do not use bleach or other abrasive or chemical products. If equipment is too dirty or contaminated, it is time to replace it. Air dry without excessive heat in a clean environment. You can use a very clean absorbent cloth or a fan. Avoid over exposure to sunlight or any other source of contamination.

Suggestion:

To complete your fall protection you will find a range of harness and anchors. Some products are suggested under the "accessories" tab at the bottom of this page.
