This safety vest has retroreflective silver (gray) stripes trimmed with fluorescent yellow stripes. It has two vertical stripes at the front, two X-shaped stripes at the back, and one horizontal stripe around the waist. Each stripe is 2” (50 mm) wide.
The vest is made of 150 denier polyester with mesh side panels for better comfort and ventilation. Deniers refer to the weight in grams of a 9,000 m thread used to make this coat. Therefore, 150 deniers equal 150 g. Seams are overlapped and multilayered for better resistance. The vest closes with three front brass snap buttons. The back of the vest has a safety harness D-ring access slot. The front of the vest has two chest straps for tools, ID, etc.
This vest has 11 pockets:
Fluorescent orange (neon orange) is highly visible during daylight and in conditions with abundant artificial light. In most situations, it offers a high contrast with the background. However, fluorescent orange is less visible at night and during low light conditions, for instance at dawn or dusk.
Gray (silver) retroreflective stripes are highly visible in low natural or artificial light conditions, because they reflect light back towards the source of the beam (flashlight, vehicle headlights, etc.). They are most efficient during dawn, dusk or at night. However, they do not offer increased visibility during daylight.
